United States Federal Courthouse

Saipan, Northern Marianas Islands

As part of the design/build GC team, exp Federal served as the Designer of Record for the new GSA Saipan Courthouse. The General Contractor, Marianas Management Corporation, worked directly for GSA and served as a conduit between the exp Federal design team and GSA. Prior to the new courthouse, the site was an empty field with no utilities. Our design included the building itself, an access control point, AT/FP measures, a new access road and vehicular gate, and over 5 acres of landscape design. This 45,000 SF building consists primarily of three parts: the entry, articulated by the voided corner and monumental colonnade; the façade, designed simply with curtainwall and precast concrete; and a series of “anchors” with largescale punched windows that punctuate and emphasize spaces within the building. The exterior of the courthouse is comprised of punched windows separated by deep vertical sandwich panels to reduce heat gain and wind load

The Airborne Corps deploy by air, land, and sea to conduct offensive and defensive operations worldwide, often with an extremely short deployment window.
